The Problem
Slippi replays are about 2500 times larger than chess replays.

The costs are not prohibitively expensive yet, but they likely will be if the goal of millions of replays is met. The objective is to break even by converting replays into youtube content and paying for server costs with ad revenue, but it's too early to tell if that will work. Donations won't be accepted until this concept fails.
This site is just one attempt at this kind of database. Hopefully, as data storage becomes cheaper, we hit chess levels and have many options for databases. If you have questions or would like to contribute in some way, join the discord and see what's up.
Download Limitations
Ideally, the whole database will always be available to download as a single zipped file. For the sake of saving on server costs, limits are applied to downloading sections or pieces of the data because it's too expensive to zip files on the fly. For now, you may request chunks of the DB on the discord server. In the future, frequently requested pieces will be zipped at regular time intervals and made avaible on the site.
